Kolb's Learning Cycle has been AROUND FOREVER (well, since 1984) and is the backbone of explanations about how we interact with our environments. It builds on his (and others') earlier theories about learning styles (1976) and together they not only capture neatly how different people interact with the learning environment but also reflect their strengths and areas for development.
